  1. SHAREWARE NOTICE

  4. (If you are already a registered user, please skip to the last section for
  5. important information.)

  7. If you use this software for personal or hobbyist applications, and you
  8. like it, please register it (if you're a commercial user, see the next
  9. section).
  10.  
  11. Several hundred person-hours of work went into the design and development
  12. of this software.  Every effort was expended to make this program both
  13. useful and bulletproof.  If you find this software useful, a small token
  14. payment to show your thanks; yes, just a paltry $24 (US), will be greatly
  15. appreciated.  *Please* offer suggestions for improvements also!  Price is
  16. subject to change with future software revisions.

  18. (An alternate payment plan existed in the past, where you could send the
  19. author a 2-hour VHS tape of what you did.  This offer has been rescinded
  20. due to copyright issues.  Several users sent a registration payment plus a
  21. tape as a gift; this is greatly appreciated, and if you want to do this, by
  22. all means please do!)

  24. The author prefers registering the program to an individual rather than to
  25. an organization or club.  Organization registrations are possible, but will
  26. cost more.  They are negotiable at this time.

  28. Benefits of registering:

  30. 1)  The program will look better!  The JACO logo will not appear in the
  31.     lower right corner of the screen during play, and your name will appear
  32.     on the editor title bar.
  33.  
  34. 2)  Registering the program enables some features.  You will have 10 fonts
  35.     available instead of 4, and you will have the ability to save your
  36.     program configuration.
  37.  
  38. 3)  You will be notified of future updates and bugfixes, and if you have
  39.     a font that you particularly like, but it displays improperly with
  40.     JACOsub, the author will be glad to re-map its bitplanes for you if you
  41.     do not have a font editor that will do this.

  43. 4)  Registering will keep your conscience from bothering you.

  47. COMMERCIAL LICENSE
  48. ==================

  50. Using this software for commercial purposes requires purchasing a license.
  51. "Commercial use" means using this software for pay or, either directly or
  52. indirectly, to produce material for sale, for rent, or for paid viewing.
  53. This includes producing titled video viewing at for-profit conventions.
  54. A commercial use license for this version of JACOsub costs US $169,
  55. negotiable.  As with the shareware fee, this price is subject to change as
  56. the program expands in the future.  Alternative royalty arrangements may be
  57. negotiated in lieu of the commercial license fee.  Program updates are free
  58. and new software is sent directly to the purchaser (private purchasers may
  59. receive only notifications).

  81. PLEASE:  Specify which version of JACOsub you are currently using, and
  82.          provide an e-mail address if you have one (preferably internet).

  84. Upon receipt of your payment, we will send you back a validation code.  To
  85. register the software, first click twice on the "register" icon or type the
  86. command "jacosub -register" from a Shell prompt.
  87.  
  88. You will then be asked to enter your name and validation code.  Be sure to
  89. enter your name exactly as shown on your registration confirmation.  Once
  90. you have entered these two items correctly, JACOsub will then permanently
  91. modify itself to reflect your ownership.  Please do not distribute
  92. registered copies of the software!

  96. I (the author) reserve the right to invalidate all prior validation codes
  97. when the program is significantly revised.  Rest assured you are still
  98. registered!  I will make every effort to send new validation codes to all
